Format of the congress
The ongoing covid-19 pandemic continues to challenge the organization of on-site events. In the light of the recent improvements, we have decided to go ahead as planned and organize the congress on location in Bergen, hosted by NHH Norwegian School of Economics.
Norway currently has very few covid-related restrictions. Most people are fully vaccinated. Neither a covid pass nor a covid test are required for travelling to or entering Norway. There are no or very few requirements for keeping physical distance or wearing facemasks. However, we would like to notify you that, if at the time of the congress covid-related circumstances and local covid-related regulations have changed, the local organizers may ask congress participants to show proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test result to access congress locations. Additionally, they may impose distancing measures and requirements to wear facemasks. More detailed information will be provided as the start of the Congress approaches.
Flights to/from Bergen in May might be expensive, so we recommend to book early, where possible with cancellation options and/or cancellation insurance.
EAA has negotiated favorable rates at a limited number of hotel rooms in downtown Bergen, so we recommend you to consider these options first. More information can be found on the congress website: https://eaa2022.eaacongress.org/r/default.asp?iId=JGLMEJ.
Moreover, we also have put together some spectacular sightseeing and dinner options on Thursday evening at favorable prices – including dinner at the top of mount Ulriken, mount Fløien, a boat trip on the fjord or a visit and dinner to the famous Bryggen area in Bergen. There is a limited number of tickets available only- and we expect them to be quickly sold out. More information will be available soon.
Registration
To register, please go to the section “Registration” on the congress website (https://eaa2022.eaacongress.org/r/home). Please bear in mind that the congress early registration fee applies until 10 March 2022. During registration, you will be asked to consent to being a discussant and/or a session chair. We kindly ask you to volunteer for these roles as they are very important and contribute to the success and quality of the annual congress. We therefore hope that you will confirm your availability for these roles.
Reduced fees for all PhD students
The EAA is pleased to announce that a reduction of €200 will be granted to all PhD students attending the Bergen congress. Moreover, the membership fee for PhD students will be reduced to €20 (excl. VAT) including a digital copy of the EAA journals, or to €40 (excl. VAT) which additionally includes paper copies of the EAA journals. To qualify for the fee reduction, PhD students will be asked to submit proof of their PhD student status during the registration process.
