We are pleased to announce that a second edition of the Qualitative Methods Symposium on Auditing, Governance, and Professionalism in context will be held as part of the 2023 CAAA Conference in Québec City.* The objective of the symposium is to promote the development of qualitative research and offer a positive space for scholars from all horizons and background to present their research. We acknowledge the support of the CPA Ontario Centre for Corporate Reporting and Professionalism at Queen’s University.
*The symposium will proceed in-person in June 2023 with hybrid options available.
When conducting research, qualitative scholars collect a wide variety and great volume of empirical materials. Making sense of these materials in a meaningful way which can enrich extant understandings of the issues at hand presents a significant and often challenging task.
The aim of the Symposium is to provide a platform where we can discuss experiences of conducting qualitative research in accounting/auditing and share some ideas relating to the development of qualitative research papers.

We would like to thank the CPA Ontario Centre for Corporate Reporting and Professionalism at Queen’s University for their support of this Symposium.
We would like to acknowledge that the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA) operates within the traditional territories of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) populations of Turtle Island (Canada). We recognize and honour the enduring presence of FNMI populations as the original stewards of this land, and we acknowledge the harms and injustices they have faced due to colonization. We express our gratitude for the opportunity to gather, learn, and work on this land. As we continue our journey, we commit to fostering greater understanding, respect, and reconciliation with Indigenous populations.
