CALL FOR CHAPTERS FOR EDITED BOOK

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

Dear CIGAR colleagues,

We would like to invite academics and practitioners to submit a chapter to an edited book on the topic "Public sector accounting, financial accountability and viability in times of a pandemic crisis”.

The world is experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, which is causing unprecedented effects on the daily routines of citizens and their health conditions with unparalleled and unpredictable financial consequences for the national economies. The finance sector has an important role in helping governments to implement these measures by providing the necessary liquidity and guarantees to all the economic sectors. In this situation, transparency and accountability mechanisms through accounting and reporting of all these measures become very important

The objective of this book is to build a body of research focusing on the accounting and reporting of the bundle of COVID-19 measures in all the relevant dimensions of accountability and in several types of public sector organizations that can increase the knowledge in the field. In this context, this book aims to elicit contributions from academics and practitioners from European and non-European countries and Institutions.

The compendium of writing is going to shed light on the accounting/reporting for COVID-specific schemes launched by governments; and on how to better use public accounting for managing the damaged public finances once COVID is over. The topic is important both currently and also for future reference.

Our aim is to get the most significant researchers in this field to contribute to our book. We would be delighted if you would consider writing a chapter.

If you are interested in this venture, as we hope you are, further details are available in the attached call for chapters.

Inquiries and submissions can be forwarded to: Giovanna Dabbicco by email on dabbicco@istat.it

All chapters will undergo double blind peer review. Revisions and review have to be finished by October 2021, aiming for publication in 2022 by Palgrave Macmillan.
